Hit the Trail for Alabama's Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail
Spanning the entire state of Alabama, the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail boasts 432 amazing holes of golf at 10 spectacular sites. The world's largest golf construction project ever attempted offers challenges to golfers of any age or skill level. Seven of the ten facilities include a Par 3 Short Course well-suited for new-to-the-game novices and wily veterans alike. The Trail’s reasonable greens fees (the majority of which are between $40 and-$70) led the Wall Street Journal to boast the compilation of courses "Maybe the biggest bargain in the country." But don't be afraid to splurge for the Trail's newly-opened Ross Bridge course in Birmingham.

With its "parkland style" design and two picturesque lakes to go along with a signature waterfall between 9 and 18, the $110 peak-time price at Ross is money well spent. The Retirement Systems of Alabama-owned courses place tee markers based on ability and not on gender (as is common at most courses). Low handicappers will find a challenge and high handicappers will avoid frustration. The Upscale Trail will suit serious golfers with a wide range of Marriott properties, including the swanky Marriott Shoals Resort and Spa.
